Is YouTube down?
Live YouTube status, measured independently. We probe 5 YouTube endpoints from monitoring regions on every continent and record every outage we detect.
YouTube is up
Our probes are reaching YouTube normally from every region we check from.
Checked every minute from 6 regions on every continent.

About YouTube outages
YouTube has no official status page, so when videos will not play people search for whether it is down. Most of the time the answer is a local network, browser extension, or app problem, because YouTube's global infrastructure very rarely fails everywhere at once.
We probe the homepage, the oEmbed API that embedded players and link previews depend on, the Data API, and the thumbnail CDN, from every continent. A failure from a single region usually points at a regional Google network event rather than YouTube itself.
What we check
Every row is a real monitor in upti.my, running from each of our regions. A failure in some regions marks the row degraded; failures from every region mark it down and open an outage.
| Check | Target | Expects | Interval |
|---|---|---|---|
Website youtube.com is unreachable from our probe regions. | httpwww.youtube.com | HTTP 200 | 1 min |
oEmbed API The oEmbed endpoint that powers embedded players and link previews is failing. | httpwww.youtube.com/oembed | HTTP 200 | 2 min |
Data API The YouTube Data API is not answering its normal missing-key response. Integrations that use the API fail. | httpwww.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/videos | HTTP 403 | 2 min |
Thumbnail CDN Google's image CDN for YouTube is failing. Thumbnails and previews break. | httpi.ytimg.com/vi/jNQXAC9IVRw/default.jpg | HTTP 200 | 1 min |
DNS youtube.com is not resolving. | dnswww.youtube.com | A record resolves | 1 min |

Recent YouTube outages we detected
An outage is recorded when a probe fails from every monitoring region and closed when it recovers. Partial and single-region problems show as degraded above but are not listed here.
YouTube is up. Is your YouTube integration?
The incidents that actually hurt are usually not global outages. They are the parts of your own system that depend on YouTube and fail quietly. Here is what teams that rely on YouTube monitor on their side.
Sites that embed YouTube video
If your landing page or course platform embeds YouTube, a browser check that confirms the player loads tells you when your page is broken for visitors.
Browser checksYouTube status: frequently asked questions
Rarely. Playback problems are usually caused by browser extensions, DNS-based ad blockers, ISP routing, or an outdated app. Our probes reaching the site, the oEmbed API, and the thumbnail CDN from every region suggests the platform is up and the issue is local.
YouTube does not run a public status page. Outage acknowledgements are posted by the TeamYouTube account on X, and Google's Workspace status dashboard covers only Workspace products.
Look at the per-region results above. If our probes fail from every region, YouTube has a real outage and it will appear in the outage list. If they succeed everywhere, the problem is most likely on your side: your network, DNS resolver, a browser extension, a corporate proxy, or your own integration. If only some regions fail, YouTube may have a regional incident that does not affect you.
Every probe runs at least every five minutes from each monitoring region, and most run every minute. This page refreshes its data every minute. Uptime figures are calculated from all checks across all regions.
Official status is updated by people after an incident is confirmed and often lags the first failures by many minutes; our probes react within a minute or two. In the other direction, we only see public endpoints, so an internal incident may not show on our probes. Use both.
Yes. Use "Notify me about YouTube" above: your upti.my workspace follows these exact checks, free plan included, and every outage opens an incident there and routes alerts to Slack, email, webhooks, or on-call. Nothing is duplicated and it doesn't use your monitor quota. Better still, also monitor your own dependency on YouTube: the API route, webhook receiver, or scheduled job that calls it, so you learn about the failure that actually affects your users.
